Мозг мужчины, как правило, на процентов 10 тяжелее по сравнению с женским мозгом. Следует заметить, что интеллектуальный перевес это не дает. Такая тенденция обусловлена тем, что тело мужчины больше. 

Отличия на нейронном уровне более значительные. Нейронные связи, которые соединяют полушария мозга, у женщин преимущественно поперечные. В мозге мужчины преимущественно продольные нейронные связи, соединяющие две части коры (переднюю и заднюю), за исключением малого мозга (мозжечка). В этой зоне нейронная сетка функционирует очень продуктивно. Поэтому мужчинам легче освоить сложные физические задачи и манипуляции, требующие строгий контроль над действиями тела.

Когда организм начинает стареть, третья часть объема мозга постепенно уменьшается. Такой процесс происходит по-разному у мужчин и женщин. У прекрасного пола увядает в первую очередь зона гиппокампа и теменной участок мозга. Из-за этого им становится сложнее запоминать информацию, строить свою речь и ориентироваться в пространстве. Также идет на спад зрение. У мужчин усыхают височные и лобные участки. Им становится труднее осваивать новую информацию и испытывать эмоции.
